APROCHWG is a network of CSOs with a strong expertise committed to advocating and protecting the rights of vulnerable adolescent, young women and groups to quality health and socio-economic development for their overall wellbeing across Nigeria.
Association for the Promotion of Community Health, Women and Girls’ Right was established in 2018 and formally registered in June 2022 by a group of Ngo practitioners who are committed to meeting the ASRH needs of Adolescents in Nigeria. They rallied round to reduce stigma associated with unsafe abortion in communities of Oyo and Ogun State of Nigeria. The Organization provided capacity building for adolescents to meet their needs in the areas of literacy, tailoring, women’s rights awareness, etc. It soon became evident there was also a lack ASRH educational opportunities for adolescent children, and so the group mobilized support to meet some of the ASRH needs of young persons including hard to reach adolescent. Community structures were set up to further ensure sustainability on the project.
The Network is providing correct information on SRH and eliminating bias/stigmatization on issues of SRH in the Country. The Network had collaborated with Children’s Investment Fund, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Women Affairs among others to respond to the increasing needs of adolescents. The program had also supported families and victims of gender-based violence. In school students and out of school children have been given an opportunity to learn new skills to increase their chances of creating income for themselves and their families. Young Women had been given health education and opportunity to participate in peer education program to support one another.
